    The Daniels Fund Grants Program supports nonprofit organizations in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, as well as national programs. The Daniels Fund focuses on supporting highly effective and ethical nonprofit organizations that achieve significant results in the community. The program areas eligible for grants through the Daniels Fund fall under the following categories:

    • Aging: Ensuring older adults achieve maximum independence and quality of life through support for in-home services, community engagement, and palliative care;
    • Amateur Sports: Ensuring the opportunity for amateur participation in quality youth sports programs, as well as national and international competition;
    • Disabilities: Ensuring physically and developmentally disabled individuals and their families achieve maximum independence and quality of life through support for developmental disabilities support services and physical disabilities equipment;
    • Drug & Alcohol Addiction: Ensuring youth and adults with alcohol and substance abuse challenges achieve stability through efforts aimed at prevention, treatment, and after-care facilities;
    • Early Childhood Education: Improving the quality of the early childhood education system to ensure quality and school readiness through support for teacher training and development, facility quality, and parental involvement;
    • Homelessness and Disadvantaged: Ensuring that homeless individuals and families achieve and maintain self-sufficiency through support for emergency services and transitional housing with supportive services;
    • K through 12 Education Reform: Improving the quality of the K-12 educational system to ensure increased student achievement through support for school reform and school choice, parental involvement, and teacher training and development; and
    • Youth Development: Ensuring the opportunity for youth to develop character and gain the necessary life skills to become successful adults through academic and supplemental services, civic literacy and community engagement, financial literacy and entrepreneurship, and career and technical education programs.

    Additional Information

    The Daniels Fund provides grants for specific programs or projects, general operating support, or capital campaigns. They generally do not provide funding for:

    • Arts, cultural, or museum programs (including those teaching and serving youth)
    • Candidates for political office
    • Debt retirement
    • Endowments
    • Environmental stewardship programs
    • Historic preservation projects
    • Individual early child care centers in the Colorado Front Range
    • Individuals
    • Library programs
    • Medical or scientific research
    • Mentorship, tutoring, or college prep programs
    • Nutrition, health, or obesity programs
    • Sponsorships, tables, or tickets for special events or fundraising events

    The Daniels Fund Grants Program provides support to nonprofit organizations in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.  

    Deadline Details

    Applicants must submit a letter of inquiry form online via the funder's grants portal. After you submit your inquiry form, you will receive an email confirmation. Your inquiry will be reviewed by a member of the Grants Program staff, who may reach out for additional information. Following their review of your inquiry, they will contact you to let you know whether or not you should proceed and submit a grant application.

    Award Details

    Grant amounts vary and depend on many factors. However, in recent years, the median grant award for Colorado and Wyoming (where the foundation accepts unsolicited applications) was approximately $75,000. Grants are generally awarded for 12-month terms.
