    Summary

    The purpose of the 2020-21 Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) Leadership Block Grants is to support participation in professional development training or project development to increase system capacity for continuous program improvement as determined by the Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA) WA State-Talent and Prosperity for All: Washington's Operational and Program Specific Workforce Plan Component Title II.


    The 2020-21 Leadership Block Grant funds can be used for the following WIOA-guided training as sponsored and coordinated by the SBCTC BEdA team:

    • Statewide Initiatives and Best Practices: Guided Pathways; I-BEST Pathway Navigation; HS21+; Project IDEA; College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS); Employability Skills; Team Teaching; eLearning & Technology; Bridges to College Math and English Instruction.
    • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Series: Implicit Bias; Inclusive Pedagogy; Cultural Competency; Power, Privilege, and Inequity; Leading with Equity.
    • Required: National Reporting System (NRS); Data for Program Improvement (DPI); WABERS+; CASAS.*
    • A complete list of annual BEdA Training's are provided at the quarterly Council for Basic Skills meetings (CBS).
    • Other State/National trainings:
      • Must support the overall WIOA WA State-Talent and Prosperity for All: Washington's Operational and Program Specific Workforce Plan Component-Title II; and
      • Case by case approval must be given by SBCTC prior to the training.

    None is available.

    Additional Information

    The BEdA Leadership Block Grant funds CANNOT be used for the following:

    • Any costs associated with attending the Council of Basic Skills quarterly meetings; or
    • Meetings or trainings not approved by the BEdA office.

  • Eligibility Details

    Approved providers/recipients of the 2020-21 BEdA Master Grant may apply for the 2020-21 Basic Education for Adults (BEdA) Leadership Block Grant. Only complete applications will be accepted for review and approval.

    Deadline Details

    Applications were to be submitted by March 19, 2020 through the Online Grant Management System. A similar deadline is anticipated annually.
