The purpose of the State Board of Emergency Medical, Fire, and Transportation Services Grant Program, administered by the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Medical Services, is to improve and enhance EMS and trauma patient care in Ohio through the provision of grant funding for equipment, training, and research. The funding source for the grant program is fines levied in the State of Ohio for seat belt violations.
There are five types of grants available from the Ohio Division of EMS:

Applicants must meet each of the following conditions to receive grant funding: (1) Hold a certificate of accreditation issued by the board to operate a paramedic training program; (2) Be seeking initial national accreditation of the program from an accrediting organization approved by the board; and (3) Apply for the national accreditation on or after February 25, 2010.
Eligible applicants are emergency medical service organizations operating within the State of Ohio.
Grant applications are available by February 1st and applications are to be submitted by April 1, annually.
Individual award amounts vary. Cost sharing/matching is not required.
