    Summary

The Domestic Violence Unit Program (DVUP) offers local law enforcement agencies the resources necessary to enhance existing service efforts and meet the District and Circuit Courts guidelines for efficiency and promptness.

The goal of this program is to reduce/minimize the time between issuance of ex parte and protective orders and their entry into the Maryland Electronic Telecommunications Enforcement Resource System/ National Crime Information Center (METERS/NCIC). The primary purpose of the Domestic Violence Unit Program is to provide funding assistance to local sheriffs and police departments to create specialized units for entry and service of ex parte and protective orders, and update and maintain their domestic violence databases.
